Gearing up
We've been in the process of getting ready for the next steps as an organization. Last summer's events went very well, and we want to move forward as a group. The organizational process has been slow yet steady.
Currently we have been working on finding a venue or venues for an event in June, as well as reaching out to newer members. We have been on the lookout for those who are interested in taking part in the organizing and those who are want to participate as artists--or both! We hope to have a group made up of pro-choice artists from every field and media: painters, poets, filmmakers, musicians, designers, photographers, sculptors, printers...you name it, we probably want it. Ideally, we will also have a nice mix of ages, races, genders, and backgrounds.
Some of the ideas that have been bounced around are to have another event (or series of events) like we did last year, with visual art and performances together in one space, though perhaps a space that would be more accessable to all-ages crowds. It has also been suggested to have the visual arts in one venue and the performaces in another if we can't find one space for both. Another idea that has been floated for the future is to hold a Fashion-for-Choice type fashion show. Really, the possibilities for what we could do in the future are pretty vast, and mostly depend on what kinds of people we can get involved.
If you are interested, the sign-up for the egroup is on the right sidebar of this page, and is quick, easy and painless.
